Information You Submit
Search Terms
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Vermilion Parish Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider's policy controls its handling of the query.
Messages
An email or contact message may be retained long enough to answer it and maintain the related correspondence. We do not share a message outside the organization unless the sender asks us to do so or disclosure is required by law.
Automatic Technical Data
Ordinary web services produce technical records when a page loads. Those records may contain:
- the visitor's IP address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages viewed and time spent on them;
- the referring website, when supplied; and
- the date and time of each request.
Cookies
Cookies help measure site use and preserve basic functions. A browser can reject or delete them, though blocking cookies may change how some features operate.
How Information Is Used
- operate the site and maintain reasonable speed;
- send a search request to the selected partner;
- measure which pages help visitors;
- diagnose and repair technical faults; and
- display advertising that may reflect likely interests.
External Sites and Advertising
Links lead to sheriff and corrections pages, government record portals, release locators, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows one, that service's privacy policy governs the visit.
Advertising partners may use their own technology to measure activity across different sites and tailor advertising. That processing occurs on the partner's systems, not as an official Vermilion Parish record.
Who May Receive Data
We do not sell personal data. Limited information may be available to:
- search partners that process a submitted query;
- analytics providers that measure traffic;
- advertising networks that deliver ads; and
- law enforcement or another government body acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Measures
Standard safeguards are used to protect information. No website, transmission, or internet-connected storage system can be guaranteed secure, so this notice does not promise that a breach is impossible.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and the limits of the data held, a person may:
- ask for a copy of personal data held about them;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of eligible information; or
- object to or opt out of certain processing.
Changes to This Notice
This privacy notice may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A new version takes effect when posted here with its updated effective date.
